This identification key uses the X:ID software developed by the UbIO team at the MBL/WHOI Library. X:ID is diagnostic key-building software composed of a builder and a player for creating and publishing diagnostic keys over the web. X:ID is built in PHP and utilizes XML/XSLT to format and display output. This key is intended to showcase some of these features.

Features include:

  • The ability to customize the look of the web-based key
  • On-the-fly graphical thumbnails of images
  • Multimedia representation of taxa
  • Linking solved taxa to an XID result page or to an optional URL
