The four volumes of this 4500 page publication were digitized by the American Museum of Natural History. The text is searchable and links to page images. During the summer of 2003 we manually tagged all names in the text. These names were extracted and matched against several global bird listings currently available within various taxonomic name systems. More than 2/3 of the 11,000+ names represent invalid forms. These forms were cataloged and the classification within the book was used to more fully represent the list of bird names.

The resultant browser application is linked to the Taxonomic Name Server. Names and classification information available through TNS add considerable additional browsing and searching context to the publication.
